Graduated in Chemistry (degree and bachelor’s degree) from the Federal University of Juiz de Fora – MG, Master’s degree in Chemistry from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG) – MG, PhD in Organic Chemistry – Universite de Paris XI (Paris-Sud) – France with internship at the Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Barcelona – Spain.
He has three postdoctoral degrees in Organic Synthesis and Medicinal Chemistry:
1) University of Florida – USA;
2) Federal University of Juiz de Fora – MG;
3) Genzyme Multinational Pharmaceutical Industry – Boston – USA.
He was visiting professor at the National Health Institute (NIH) – Washington – USA.
He was awarded the Young Scientist and Scientist of Our State – FAPERJ awards.
He is currently Senior Technologist in Public Health at Fundação Oswaldo Cruz – RJ.
He acts as leader of the research group SSCDT (Synthesis of Substances in Combating Tropical Diseases) and as vice-coordinator and professor of the Professional Graduate Program in Management, Research and Development in the Pharmaceutical Industry of Farmanguinhos/Fiocruz.
He was a permanent member of the Graduate Program in Chemistry at UFRJ (Federal University of Rio de Janeiro) for 15 years.
Also, he is a member of the editorial board of 32 international scientific journals, regional editor (South America) of the journal Current Microwave Chemistry, associate editor of the journal Medicine Research and Fine Chemical Engineering, as well as a Consultant to the South African Medical Research Council (MRC) with 340 publications scientific publications, 17 patents, 6 book chapters, 3 books (2 national and 1 international), 6 texts in newspapers or magazines, 108 annals in events and 22 presentations of works.
